Laser Therapy
What is Therapeutic Laser?
As opposed to surgical lasers (hot lasers) which are used to destroy tissue, low level laser therapy uses therapeutic (cold) laser light in order to help with pain relief, decrease swelling and help stimulate repair of damaged tissues. The laser works to stimulate cells through a number of known cellular pathways in order to encourage tissue healing.
The laser emits light energy photons which enter the tissue and are absorbed by the mitochondria. Mitochondria are the cell’s power center and produce chemical energy which the cell can use to perform processes in order to thrive, divide and heal. The light photons enter the mitchondira and are converted into chemical energy (much like plants perform photosynthesis) known as ATP which fuels the healing process when a cell/tissue is damaged.

What are the results?
Cold Lasers have a variety of benefits including:
Conditions that can be treated:
-bursitis -sprains/strains -tendonitis
-haematomas -chronic back/neck pain -rheumatoid arthritis
-frozen shoulder -carpal tunnel -heel pad atrophy
-osteoarthritis -capsulitis
Cold Lasers have a variety of benefits including:
- rapid cell growth
- faster tissue healing (ie sprains/strains, bruises, wounds)
- decreased recover time
- reduced formation of scar tissue
- anti-inflammatory action
- reduces pain
